I had a girlfriend and her grand-daughter over for lunch and cookies today, a rare thing, as my daughter--estranged from me--has sworn to never have children.

To me, a crone is a woman who understands time, sees the patterns and knows what they mean. The crone is the woman who has come to terms with herself, has wisdom to share, and finds herself not needing to apologize for who she is nor wanting to conform to what someone else thinks she should be. I'm loving 50, because I am finally free.

My daughter asked me the other day when I was going to color my hair and, my mother asks me it frequently. I told my daughter that I really didn't have any plans on coloring it, and we got into a discussion of how much pressure is put on woman to look younger. I told her that when men have grey hair, people comment that they looked distinguised, but never a woman. She said "ya know what mom, you're right."

I heard Oprah say once "why as woman to we tear each other down, instead of building each other up."

May we as woman always look for the beauty that comes from the inside, because that's really what counts.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6801485432556979796.post-71766773329891361962009-08-31T20:41:35.730-07:002009-08-31T20:41:35.730-07:00beautiful thinking
